Abdelrazik needs emergency passport
On June 4, many celebrated as a federal court order was issued to bring Abousfian Abdelrazik back to Montreal within 30 days.
Abousfian Abdelrazik is a Sudanese-Canadian dual citizen who was accused of having ties to al-Qaeda. He was subsequently cleared in multiple investigations by the Sudanese government, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the RCMP. The Federal Court has found that the government breached Abdelrazik’s charter rights by refusing to issue him an emergency passport.
Bundles of postcards from Fredericton and elsewhere in Canada have been sent to Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon demanding his safe return to Canada.
About 250 people from St. John’s to Victoria to Iqualuit have purchased Abdelrazik’s ticket home. The purchased ticket is scheduled to leave Khartoum, Sudan, on Friday. An emergency passport needs to be issued immediately to get him on that plane.
